Founded in 2012 and established in the Bay Area, Str8jacket practices creativity, grit, and growth. We develop economic, social, and philosophical change for our communities through dance, collaboration, and collectivism.
Str8jacket utilizes dance as a tool for members to grow. We believe the work it takes for an individual to grow as a dancer is parallel to the work it takes to grow as a person.
We remove potential barriers by not holding auditions, being financially supportive, and meeting individuals where they are at in their journeys.
Str8jacket strongly supports the Bay Area HipHop and Streetstyle dance communities and mental wellness.
JC co-founded Str8jacket in the summer of 2012. From the beginning, JC believed Str8jacket should be founded on hard work, discipline, creativity and passion. He made Str8jacket a no-audition team because he wanted dancers of diverse backgrounds and also because of his ideology that every dancer has the potential to become skilled with discipline and passion.
